When it comes to the Duggars, we don’t hear about Anna Duggar and her kids too much anymore. After her husband Josh Duggar‘s molestation scandal broke back in 2015, she and her family pretty much disappeared, hidden on the sidelines even at family events like weddings and birthdays, just out of sight from the camera on episodes of Counting On. But every now and then, after her relatively-recent return to social media, the mom of five will give fans a glimpse into their lives. Check out the video above to see what she had to say about Mason and their recent challenges.

In a recent post, she gave her followers an update on how their youngest son, Mason Duggar, has been doing. “Yup, you may have guessed it,” she started, “Lil Mason has a milk protein (aka dairy) allergy.” In fact, the allergy was so serious that it even meant Anna had to stop breastfeeding for a while. “Allergies showed up at 2 weeks, and caused us to switch to formula while momma cut dairy and other potential allergy causing foods out of my diet (i.e. gluten, corn, soy, eggs, nuts, chicken, & nightshade foods),” she explained.

Mason’s favorite teether! #masonduggar

Luckily, all turned out well in the end. “As we added things back into my diet we discovered Mason was only allergic to dairy, and by January he was back to 100% nursing and thriving — reaching 20lbs at 6 months!” Now that he’s a little older than eleven months old, he’s even started eating solids, and this past weekend the family reached a milestone when baby Mason got to indulge in pancakes for the first time (dairy-free, of course).

The moment was a big one for mom, too, after the difficult process of figuring out what their littlest one was allergic to and how to adjust to life dealing with that. “Sometimes in life we are faced with a mountain that seems impossible,” continued Anna in her caption. “We pray asking God to move the mountain, yet God wants us to climb it! Even though it is unexpected (and hard work) it is so worth it, God’s grace is sufficient for each step of the way! To have a mountain top experience you must first climb the mountain!”

She even shared encouragement with her followers to help them climb their mountains, too. But the most important part of the whole post has to be when she asked followers for help finding dairy-free pizza. After all, now that Mason is eating real food like pancakes, he’s got a lot of good snacks to look forward to.
