It’s the end of an era. Angelina Jolie has officially dropped Brad Pitt’s last name, according to legal docs obtained by In Touch. This big development comes shortly after it was revealed that Pitt and Jolie are now considered “single” as divorce negotiations continue.

Now, the Maleficent star’s moniker has been restored back to Jolie. The famous exes share six kids together — Maddox, 17, Pax, 15, Vivienne, 10, Knox, 10, Zahara, 14, and Shiloh Jolie-Pitt, 12 — so what does this mean for their last names? The pair’s children are also listed on the court document, but it looks like their last names will continue to be hyphenated and referred to as Jolie-Pitt.

As fans know, it’s been a long and arduous road for the former power couple. Jolie, 43, filed for divorce from the actor, 55, in September 2016, citing irreconcilable differences as the reason for their split. Since then, they’ve managed to make big strides with their legal proceedings. On April 12, both parties filed paper work which would allow them to be declared legally single as they continue to finalize their divorce settlement, known as a bifurcated judgment.

Pitt and Jolie previously reached a child custody agreement in November 2018 and it was a momentous occasion, since they both felt it protected the best interests of their kids. However, it should be noted that it is not a permanent agreement, so it could be subject to change.

At the time, an insider told E! News that Jolie was “pleased to be entering the next stage and is relieved with the progress for the health of the family.” Pitt also shared the same sentiments.

“Brad is hoping the worst is behind them and that they can move on from the fighting and painful past,” another source close to the Mr. & Mrs. Smith actor told the outlet. “He knows in the long run the kids are best with both their mom and dad in the picture. He can now move forward and try be a stable and constant positive influence in their lives.” Here’s to a fresh new start!
