Amy Duggar — the niece of Jim-Bob and Michelle Duggar, the extremely conservative stars of 19 Kids and Counting — has confirmed speculation she was born out of wedlock.
“My mom and dad did have me out of wedlock. Just because we are Christians doesn’t make us perfect, it just makes us forgiven. Just because I share the Duggar name doesn’t mean my life is perfect,” she wrote on Instagram.
She continued, “I’m extremely grateful to my mom for choosing to give me life. I’m sure she was scared, young, ridiculed and felt ashamed. God’s grace covered it though! She’s beautiful inside and out. I’m also grateful that I have such an awesome relationship with my dad! Seriously, he’s the greatest.”

While Amy considers Terry Jordan — the husband of her mother, Deanna — to be her father, it’s unclear whether or not he is the 27-year-old’s biological father.
The aspiring country singer’s candid admission came as a surprise to many fans of the TLC show given the Duggar’s extremely conservative views.
Daughters Jill and Jessa avoided almost all physical contact with their respective husbands before they got married.
As mom-to-be Jill explained before her big day, “We’re just really trying to keep our relationship focused not on the physical but really just more on communication and continuing to learn more about each other. We’re saving our first kiss and things beyond that for our wedding.”
