Amber Portwood is getting candid about her mental health.
The Teen Mom OG star opened up about her depression in a new interview with Cosmopolitan, and her difficulty to cope with the diagnosis in her day-to-day life.
“My life stops when I'm depressed because there's no getting out of it," she told Cosmo. "There's no shaking it off because it's a chemical imbalance. When I get depressed, my depression is laying in bed, not moving, not wanting to even take a shower.”
Further, the teen mom revealed to MTV producers during the show that she now suffers from borderline personality disorder, in addition to her bipolar disorder.
“Yes, I'm actually diagnosed. The borderline personality is a new diagnosis that I obviously don't want to believe, but my therapist believes it. It's hard," Amber continued. "I was diagnosed with bipolar a long time ago. It's really hard. I think people don't quite understand what it's like to be bipolar and then have something like borderline personality on top of it, plus you have anxiety disorder.”
The mom-of-one explained her seven-year-old daughter Leah is the light on the reality star's darkest days. Amber credited her "Boo Boo" for making her the "happiest version" of herself.
