Words of wisdom. Alaskan Bush People alum Matt Brown told fans to “never give up” or “surrender” in an uplifting message on Tuesday, September 1, weeks after sharing an update about his sobriety journey. The Discovery Channel star posted a new photo of his artwork and revealed he has been “into drawing a lot lately.”

“Hey y’all guys, this is my newest piece, I hope you like it,” the reality star, 37, wrote in his caption. “Also I just put out a YouTube video where you can watch me draw a cool picture in timelapse! (Don’t forget to help me out and subscribe, and see my next videos as they come out). God bless.”

It appears the eldest child of the Brown brood is exploring his talents and creativity these days. Just last month, Matt posted a portrait of himself gazing up at the sky and shared how much he enjoyed his hike following his lifestyle change.

On July 15, the TV personality celebrated how far he has come after walking into the Betty Ford rehabilitation center “completely broken” two years ago.

“Slowly one day at a time, they helped me build myself back. It wasn’t just about getting me back on the road again, for me it was mostly about processing, addressing and dealing with the negative feelings and events of my past, that I just couldn’t get over,” Matt explained in his candid social media post.

“I found happiness,” he wrote. “It’s still one day at a time, and I still have my days, but it’s so much easier now, now that I have tools, now that I understand how to better understand myself. To put it as simply as I can … I just got tired, and finally looked for a better way. God bless y’all guys, and thank you for sticking by me.”

Matt seems to still be living in California after it was revealed he relocated there in April 2019. The treatment center he went to was located in Rancho Mirage.

Unfortunately, his family members in Washington state have been going through a tough time in recent weeks, but like Matt,  they are staying optimistic about the future. His brother Bear Brown announced the Palmer Fire “swept through” their mountain and land on August 19, revealing they suffered a “devastating loss.”

Bear, 33, followed up with a heartfelt message on August 25, telling fans to focus their efforts on helping other families impacted by the blaze since they were going to be OK.

“It’s tragic how many homes have been lost!” he wrote. “To those who have lost, my heart goes out to you all! Stay strong! It’s always darkest before the dawn.”
