From Kathryn Raindrop to Noah Darkcloud, the Real Names of the ‘Alaskan Bush People’ Are a Mouthful

Discovery Channel‘s Alaskan Bush People has prompted quite a few questions among fans about authenticity, and that includes curiosity around the Brown family‘s real names.

Sure, your knee-jerk reaction is probably, “Well, yeah, nobody goes through nine hours of labor, cradles their newborn in their arms and thinks, ‘You’ll be my sweet little Bam Bam.'” But leave it to the Browns to keep it weird and keep it woodsy — most of them actually have really long, strange monikers.

The youngest child in the Browns goes by Rain, but that’s actually a nickname for Merry Christmas Katherine Raindrop Brown. Yes, you read that correctly. That said, it seems like the teen embraces her name, and even has a nickname for her social media followers.

One fan recently questioned the reality star‘s sexuality, asking, “Are you gay” on Instagram, while another added, “I have wondered the same thing but she never answers questions so you can only judge by appearance and the statement that she said she can’t get her hair short enough and all the rainbows on her posts.” Rain did respond, however, saying, “No, I’m straight. And I call my fans rainbows because my name is Rain, but you do you, boo.” Mic. Drop.

How big are reality star salaries? Jason Tartick breaks it down with Us Weekly editors.

Considering parents Billy and Ami have seven kiddos —  Noah, Snowbird, Rain, Joshua, Solomon, Gabriel and Matthew — they certainly had to get their creative juices flowing to come up with that many names.
