When it comes to reality TV, what you see isn’t always what you get, and new 90 Day Fiancé star Corey Rathgeber is worried about just that. Joining the cast of 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way with his fiancée, Evelin, the star is concerned about how the TLC show will portray them. But he’s not so much worried about himself as he is worried about his fiancée. A source close to the couple chatted exclusively with In Touch to share how the star is feeling. Meeting the Couples

The show was first announced back in early May, giving fans of the franchise their first look at the spin-off. “Six Americans are abandoning life in the U.S. to start over in a foreign country,” the show explained in a promo.

Chasing Love

“They’re saying goodbye to friends, family and everything they know — all in the name of love,” the promo continued. “Will their dreams come true … or will it be the worst decision of their lives?”

Enter Corey and Evelin

Cue the new stars. When we got our first glimpse of Corey in the trailer, he was getting ready to sell his car. Calling the experience “crazy,” he explained, “I’m giving up everything I have to go to Ecuador in the middle of nowhere.”

Their Love Story

Corey, 31, met his fiancée, 26-year-old Evelin, while he was traveling and visiting Ecuador. According to the star, they met in a beachy, tourist town while he was backpacking. As soon as he spotted Evelin, he was pretty much in love.

Feeling is Mutual

As it turns out, the feelings was real, with Evelin calling her fiancé the most “loving, respectful man” in their TLC intro video. And just as an added bonus, she also added that he is funny and even “yummy.”

Simple Life

Two weeks after meeting, Corey followed Evelin to her home in a town called Engabao — and it wasn’t exactly the paradise where they’d met. Calling it “very third world” and “covered with pigs,” it’s nothing like the life he’s used to living.

Falling For Each Other

Regardless, the couple has now been together for four years, and Corey is ready to take things to the next level. So when Evelin didn’t want to move to the States, he decided to take the plunge instead.

Big Adjustments

Though he speaks at least some Spanish, the show seems to suggest that the star will have a hard time settling in to his new life. “Hello. You have Wifi?” he can be seen asking as he arrives in the Spanish-speaking country.

Complicated Pasts

Of course, the drama is only getting started. Later in the promo, Corey asks Evelin, “What happened with your ex? Is he out of your life or not? And where’s your ring? Where?”

Messy Fights

“I don’t want to wear [a] ring,” Evelin tells her fiancé — but she can’t even look at him as they argue, leading him to say, “Exactly! For real. Are you in it or not?” Her answer? “I guess I’m not.”

Falling Apart

At the end of the trailer, he storms away — and that’s just what we saw in a less-than-three minute clip that also featured the other four new couples. So what happens when we see everything that goes down?

Sweating It

Well, it seems like things are going to get even worse — and that’s why Corey’s already concerned about what fans are going to think about his future wife. A source told In Touch he’s already stressed.

The Public Eye

“Corey is nervous about editing and how Evelin will look on TV,” the insider exclusively told In Touch. “He knows she might not come across that great.”

Editing Woes

They wouldn’t be the first couple to face problems because of the way the show portrays their storylines. Stars like Nicole Nafziger are frequently calling out fans because of the assumptions they make based on what they see on screen.

Joining the Show

At the end of the day, though, Evelin will mainly have herself to blame for any issues with public perception. “Evelin was a big fan of 90 Day Fiancé and watched it for years before she was on it with Corey,” the source continued. “She got him into the show.”

Potential Problems

So what might we see that could paint Evelin in a bad light? Well, other than ditching her engagement ring, there’s also the fact that Corey’s been sending her money for a while.

Supportive Spouse

Corey, who’s from Washington, has been helping out his fiancé and her family for a while. He’s apparently already spent tens of thousands of dollars to help them out. As for the rest of it, we’ll have to watch and find out — but it’s sure to be just as juicy and scandalous as all the drama on this show.
