'90 Day Fiance': What Happened to Nicole's Money for Beauty Store?

Nicole and Azan have face their fair share of obstacles as they tried to make it down the aisle. In November 2017, Azan was denied for the K-1 visa, a.k.a. the fiancé visa, which would allow him to enter the United States as Nicole’s fiancé. The couple was then forced to make a big decision if they wanted to be together: Nicole would have to go to Morocco, marry Azan in his country, and then apply for the spousal visa so that she could bring him back with her to the United States.

Nicole Claps Back About Azan and Weight Loss Struggles

But they were forced to postpone their wedding the first time after Nicole didn’t bring the proper paperwork for her to obtain a marriage license in Morocco. They pushed their wedding date back and continued to plan and prepare, but they decided to call off their wedding altogether at the very last minute. Nicole and Azan said they felt it would be better for them and their future to take the $6,000 that Nicole saved up for their wedding and the $500 that Azan had saved up and invest it into opening their own beauty business so that they could have a steadier income.

During the season 4 premiere of 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After?, Nicole admitted that the entire thing was a lie.

“Even though I told my mom that we were talking about opening a store, we never winded up going through with it. There is no store,” she said in her confessional. “But I haven’t told my family because my family does nothing but grill me.”

After the episode aired, fans took to Nicole’s Instagram Story Q&A and asked her what happened to her money.

“Plot twist. No store = There was no 6k,” Nicole responded. “Why did we lie? Because we suck at reality TV. IDK. I’m so tired of this show. Sorry TLC. I”m tired of y’all. But they didn’t tell us to say it.”

A fan then asked if Azan was still planning to come to American to be with Nicole and she offered a very in-depth explanation.

“So here’s the thing and I hope everyone understands this. Azan had his K-1 denied in like our second season. Then I had to wait to get the letter saying the visa was denied or expired or whatever (because you can’t start a new one while you have an active one),” she explained “So now we need to get married before we can start the spousal visa but we are not rushing that because we are trying to make sure we do what’s best for us as a couple and a family. Does this help [you] understand?”

Another fan pointed out that Nicole seemed to be getting defensive in her responses.

“I don’t care what y’all think. But I do care what y’all say about Azan because he is an amazing person and no one wants their love to be talked badly about,” she admitted. “We have worked so hard in our 3 ½ year relationship to become more trusting and open and strong together. These are the things you’ll never see on TV. But I have to say I am regretful about how I lashed out at Azan in those particular scenes. TV makes unnecessary problems and I couldn’t handle them at the time.”

Nicole also revealed why she and Azan still return to the show season after season if she said she was “tired” of it.

“We decided to do this season like a year ago. Then we did it and again, it sucked,” she wrote. “IDK why I ever think it can be a good season. It doesn’t happen.”

Nicole also hinted that the show was part of the reason why she and Azan had to cancel their wedding.

“Here is the honest truth to this question! WE RUSHED IT BECAUSE OF THE SHOW,” she wrote. “We tried to plan to have time to have the wedding but it needed to be sooner so we tried to do that. Well, that didn’t work. Too much pressure and not enough funds to make it happen that fast. It was too fast. I don’t want to feel pressure to marry my best friend. I want to enjoy the process of marrying him.”

One fan asked how long Nicole and Azan will wait to get married.

“Til we are ready. And it’s up to us to decide when we feel it’s right for us. Not for TV,” she said. “I never said I’m not ready to get married. I said we are waiting for the right moment.”

She also reflected on her and Azan’s time on the show and how it could have negatively affected them.

“It could have ruined what we had but we as a couple decided to take what we go through and just get stronger from it. I’ve grown personally since season 1. We both have personally and as a couple,” she said.

Nicole then revealed what Azan wanted in terms of their plans for the future.

“Azan wants me to be in Morocco with him until we can move to the U.S. together to build a better life for our family,” she explained.

One fan asked Nicole why she decided to sign up for the show to begin with if she didn’t have anything positive to say about her experience.

“Funny story! I never heard of the show and my stepmom found it online and said I should ask if they help with the K-1 process. Well, they don’t, but we decided it might be ‘a fun experience’ to go on the show,” she wrote. “LOL how wrong we were, but whatever. It happened and we’re stronger for it. We’ll still come out on top.”

Many fans think that Azan is with Nicole for the wrong reason, and one asked if she was worried that Azan wouldn’t be with her if it wasn’t for the show — and she shut it down real quick.

“LOL this is a silly question. I’m the one who convinced him to do another season because I’m so sure we can show the real us. But it never comes out that way,” she answered.

Just one week before the premiere, Nicole hinted that this season could be the last one for her and Azan on her IG Story. “This could be our last season,” she teased.
