She’s sporting fresh ink after overcoming a traumatic experience in her life. 90 Day Fiancé star Ashley Martson decided to get a brand new tattoo and she let her husband, Jay Smith, do the honors. The TLC alum gave fans a behind-the-scenes look at the process via Instagram, and she also shared the powerful story which inspired her to get the new tattoo. Scroll through the gallery.
Ashley, 32, posted a video of herself getting the new tattoo permanently etched onto her right side. The reality star confirmed it’s the “sign for sexual abuse,” while chatting with In Touch.

Overcoming Hardships
“I was kidnapped, raped, and he tried to kill me,” Ashley said about the incident. As we previously reported, Ashley was sadly kidnapped and almost killed by a stranger at the young age of 19.
Ashley said the man behind the attack is in jail for life now. “It was a complete stranger that got me while I was walking into work,” she added.

The Big Unveil
The reality star said her new tattoo is the fifth design her tattoo artist husband, Jay, has done for her. Ashley proudly showed off the end result on Instagram.

Lessons Learned
Ashley has endured her fair share of trials and tribulations over the years, but it looks like things are starting to look up for her. Up until now, she has been in and out of the hospital due to her ongoing battle with lupus.

Growing Stronger
On the bright side, the TLC alum revealed that she’s beginning to feel like herself again. “My health is improving each day and I’m finally able to start living normally,” she told In Touch exclusively.

Making Progress
Jay and Ashley also went through a rough patch with their relationship recently, but she did inform fans that they are now “doing so much better.”

Setting the Record Straight
In February 2019, the reality starlet broke her non-disclosure agreement with TLC. Ashley took to social media with a lengthy statement in hopes of clearing up some misconceptions.

“Since I’m such a ‘money-hungry scammer,’ I’m breaking the NDA and surprise: Jay and I have never separated since the day we were married,” she wrote.

“Breaking the NDA means I won’t be paid a dime for future shows. We were made to act as if our relationship was no longer active,” she said.

Reaching Milestones
As of today, Jay and Ashley are still going strong. On March 7, the reality star’s daughter surprised Jay by doing something special to celebrate his first year of being in America.

Fun Times Ahead
Looking ahead, Ashley will be returning to Jamaica for an event this summer. She wrote, “Everyone say a prayer to the immigration gods that Jay can also come as we’re still waiting on his travel papers.”
