He’s got quite a sense of humor! Paul Staehle roasted himself for his surprising criminal history: being found guilty of felony arson in 2014. The 90 Day Fiancé star shared a text conversation between him and wife Karine Martins via Instagram on Sept. 26, talking about their recent incident with fire.

“Paul. I’m going to eat here. The house almost caught fire and burned the food,” Karine wrote Paul, and he responded: “Arson is bad. Be careful with fire. I am at our place so it was not me.” Fans were getting a kick out of his response to her messages, considering Paul allegedly committed second-degree arson and “Burning Personal Property To Defraud Insurer” in 2007. He was convicted seven years later, according to the Kentucky corrections website. “Lol Paul. You have a great sense of humor. ‘It wasn’t me’ LMAO,” one fan commented, while another hilariously chimed in: “Reddit gonna have a field day with this post.”

In their text message exchange, Karine said that she was nervous, so she zoomed out of the house. “It was not you. Alice lit the fire with paper, then picked it up inside the stove,” the TLC star said, while recounting what happened. It looks like the ordeal made Paul think twice about taking precautions, since he captioned his post: “Today I am shopping for a good fire extinguisher…Karine and no one was injured during the incident.”

Paul last took to Instagram on Monday, Sept. 24, to reveal his weight loss transformation and his followers were raving over how great he looks. And after months of speculation, Paul and Karine finally confirmed they’re expecting their first child together, but there could be potential issues going on with her pregnancy. In a teaser clip for next week’s episode, it was hinted that Karine may be experiencing complications, so we’re hoping for the best.
