’90 Day Fiancé’ Star Ashley Martson Reveals She and Jay Smith Have ‘Been Talking’ After Split

Jay turned 22 years old on Tuesday, October 8. Just hours before his special day, Ashley took to Instagram to wish him a happy birthday.

And Jay seemed to be happy to hear from his estranged wife! He reposted her message and thanked her.

He reposted her message a second time and added a laughing with tears animoji.

Their sweet little social media exchange came as a shock to fans, considering Ashley and Jay are not together anymore. They are currently in the process of getting a divorce after Ashley accused Jay of cheating on her multiple times throughout their marriage.

In an exclusive statement to In Touch, Ashley set the record straight on where she and Jay currently stand in their relationship to each other.

“Jay and I have been talking since I chose to drop the PFA,” Ashley exclusively told In Touch. As fans know, Ashley was granted a Protection From Abuse (PFA) over the summer, and Jay allegedly violated the terms of the PFA by posting about Ashley and the PFA on Instagram.  That is what led to the Jamaica native’s arrest and jail stint. Since he is not an American citizen, he was also placed in ICE custody. He was later found guilty of violating the PFA and was “sentenced one day and a $100 fine for the violation,” but still remained in ICE custody until his boss posted his bail. Jay may still be facing the possibility of deportation.

“We are not back together, just cordial,” she explained.

It seems like the lines of communication have been open so they would work together on two very big issues.

“[We are] trying to get our divorce and immigration figured out,” Ashley said.

“We both made a ton of mistakes and chose to forgive,” she added.

Back in July, Ashley did a Q&A session with fans and she revealed that her divorce was still not finalized because Jay refused to sign the paperwork — and she had an idea of why he was dragging his feet.

“He is requesting half of everything I own, that’s why he won’t sign,” Ashley wrote at the time.

In August, Ashley exclusively shared her reaction to Jay’s request for spousal support in their divorce with In Touch.

“Good luck,” she said with a laugh. “He’s not going to get anything.”

Jay also addressed his pending divorce from Ashley during an Instagram Live session with fans on Monday, October 7.

“When [are] you getting divorced?” a fan asked, and Jay replied, “Never.” It’s unclear if he was joking with his response.
