Are 90 Day Fiance’s Geoffrey Paschel and Varya Malina Still Together? Update After Sentencing

Where they stand today. 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days stars Geoffrey Paschel and Varya Malina ended their journey on season 4 with an engagement following a second proposal — which Malina said yes to after turning down Paschel’s first proposal. Unfortunately, fans did not get a status update on the couple during the season 4 tell-all, as they were not invited to film because of Paschel’s criminal case.

Malina Supports Paschel After 18-Year Sentencing

On February 3, 2022, Paschel was sentenced to 18 years in prison after being found guilty of aggravated kidnapping, domestic assault and interference with emergency calls. Malina was by his side during the trial and took to social media following the verdict to show her support for Paschel.

“To be honest we didn’t expect much from this sentencing. 18 years? Alright, we passed the bottom, that means there’s only one way up! The grounds for the appeal became even stronger,” the Russia native added. “Meanwhile, the sky is still crying, I believe it’s because one little angel is very upset.”

In June 2022, the 90 Day Fiancé alum attended a hearing for his case after filing a motion for a re-trial. At the hearing, his motion for a retrial was denied, and he was given 30 days to appeal. 

On September 16, 2022, Varya gave her followers an update on Geoffrey’s court case.

“The appeal was filed. There are numerous items where he should win,” she wrote via her Instagram Stories alongside a photo of the two lovingly embracing. In another slide, she added, “We’ve changed the lawyer. The new team is there not to gain the publicity, they have Geoffrey’s best interests and they believe in him.”

What Did Geoffrey Paschel Do?

Ahead of the premiere of 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days season 4. Paschel made headlines as he was awaiting a criminal trial for charges stemming from an arrest following an alleged domestic violence incident with his ex-fiancée, Kristen Wilson, in June 2019.

Geoffrey Paschel Was Previously Found Guilty of All Charges

While Paschel maintained his innocence in the months leading up to his trial, he was found guilty of all charges — aggravated kidnapping, domestic violence and interference with an emergency call —  in October 2021.

Paschel Confirmed His Legal Issues Prevented Them From Filming the Tell-All

In June 2020, Paschel addressed his absence from the 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days season 4 tell-all during an Instagram Live with his rep, Rocco Straz.

“I’m not sad that I wasn’t on it,” Paschel said at the time, hinting that Malina chose not to participate either out of solidarity. “The mentality of keeping me off the tell-all because somebody said something is the most absurd thing I’ve ever heard in my life,” he added, claiming his innocence. “I want my court case to be over with, and as soon as my court case is over with, then my life will proceed. My life is going fine now, don’t think that I’m holding back on anything. But it’s the ‘he said, she said crap.’ But I’m prepared. I did my homework, and I’m — I was the one who was there, you know.”

In a message to fans via her Instagram Story that same month, Malina hinted that they planned to return to the show sometime in the near future to share a full update and “the truth” about their story line.

Is Malina in the United States?

Malina visited America while filming season 4, as she surprised Paschel at his home in Tennessee after she turned down his first proposal during his trip to her native Russia, which was filmed in November 2019. But she returned to the U.S. sometime in December 2020, which she confirmed after months of fan speculation in April 2021.

“Right now, I’m staying in Pensacola,” she captioned a photo of herself at the Florida-based beach, confirming she had been in the states for about four months at the time. “Not living here, just visiting (still on my tourist Visa). It’s the longest trip of my life.”

At the time, she was not living with Paschel, as he lives at his home in Tennessee. But fans speculated that even though they were not living together in the same state, Malina and Paschel were very much still together, as they were reportedly spotted together in Vail, Colorado, in April and were reportedly seen together at a Taco Festival in Knoxville, Tennessee in July. Following the news of Paschel’s guilty verdict, Malina deactivated her Instagram.

In November 2021, Malina revealed she moved into Paschel’s Tennessee home, confirming they were very much together.

Natalie Mordovtseva Hinted at Their Status After Guilty Verdict

Malina and Paschel’s friend and fellow 90 Day Fiancé costar Natalie Mordovtseva dropped a major clue about their relationship status. One day after Paschel was found guilty, Mordovtseva took to her Instagram Story to share a message of support for Paschel — while also sharing a photo of him and Malina looking cozy and loved up.

“I couldn’t believe yesterday [sic] tv news,” Mordovtseva captioned a photo of her with Paschel, Malina, and a group of friends at dinner. “I will pray for you [folded hands emoji] @geoffreypaschel. #everythingwillbeok.”

Malina and Mordovtseva became friends on social media after connecting over their shared experience of being on the 90 Day Fiancé franchise, but they didn’t meet in person until May 2021. The photo of Paschel and Malina, where Paschel had his arm around Malina as she sat close next to him, seemed to have been taken in the spring or summer 2021.

Mordovtseva also seemingly doubled down on her defense of Paschel and Malina’s love. According to a screenshot of a post captured by 90 Day Fiancé blogger 90 Day The Melanated Way, Mordovtseva shared a screenshot of an article about her friendship with Malina via Instagram on October 12, 2021.

“I love this girl and I will always be on her side no matter what,” Mordovtseva reportedly wrote in the caption. “You can kill me for this. I don’t care. #she #was #happy #with #him #im #not #objectif [sic].”

Shortly after sharing that post, Mordovtseva also deactivated her Instagram account but it has since been reactivated.

Are Geoffrey and Varya Still Together?

Following his sentencing, Malina has not been afraid of sharing more of her life and her relationship with Paschel on social media. She’s spoken out about her support of him as he remains in prison and in May 2022, she addressed the haters who criticize her decision to stand by him and wait for him as he serves time behind bars.

“POV: when somebody asks me how much money I’ve spent on phone calls and visits with Geoffrey,” Malina captioned an Instagram Reel on May 17, 2022, which was synched to the audio of someone asking, “Have you lost your mind?”

In the next clip, Malina looked and smiled into the camera as she lip-synched the lyric, “Yes, I’ve lost my mind” from t.A.T.u.’s 2002 hit song, “All the Things She Said.”

In October 2022, the reality TV starlet shared another relationship update, noting the duo hopes to be “reunited soon.” 

“This year apart was horrendous, however, it taught me a lot,” she wrote via her Instagram Stories on October 7, 2022, alongside a photo of the pair cozied up together. “I don’t give up and neither does he. We believe, we’ll be reunited soon.”

A month later, Varya visited Geoffrey in prison for the Thanksgiving 2022 holiday. She then took to her Instagram Stories to detail another example of why she and Geoffrey are a “perfect match.”

“When I came to the visitation room, Geoffrey wasn’t there yet. But there was tons of other people: inmates, visitors, guards, probation officers,” the social media influencer explained. “And while waiting for him, I decided to go buy some food from food machines.”

While she was “peacefully looking at snacks,” Varya explained that someone grabbed her by her shoulders and yelled “boo.” 

“[I] screamed as loud as possible … I immediately turned around and Geoffrey was there standing with his million dollar smile and dozens of eyes were staring at us shockingly,” she went on. “Everybody thought we were such weirdos … but entertaining ones. The bottom line [is] we are a perfect match.”

Following the visit, she had her Thanksgiving dinner alone at nearby Cracker Barrel. 

“Even though we didn’t celebrate it home this year,” Varya continued in another slide. “I have no doubts we’ll do it next year.”

Varya ‘Suspended Permanently’ From Visiting Geoffrey

In January 2023, Varya shared via her Instagram Stories that her visitation privileges with Geoffrey in prison have been “suspended permanently.” 

“The only emotional support we had was stolen from us by the bias and inhumane system,” she shared alongside a photo of Geoffrey affectionately nuzzling her neck prior to his incarceration. “That’s why I feel so broken and low as if a part of my soul was torn out again.” 

In the next slide, the 90 Day Fiancé alum opened up about the reason why she wasn’t able to visit Geoffrey anymore while he was behind bars. 

“So everywhere in Tennessee, they put those new x-ray body scanners, which expose you to radiation and I said, ‘I have health concerns about that,’” she explained. “I offered to opt out and be stripped searched, or any alternative they have to this procedure, and they said, ‘They don’t have any exclusions’ and I have to leave if I refuse to go through radiation.”

While Varya said the staff “tried to convince” her that it was “harmless,” she sought out a special doctor’s note detailing her concerns but was told by the prison that she was “too late.” 

A few days later, Varya took to her Instagram to debunk a rumor that she went to Puerto Rico to celebrate her “single life” and also slammed trolls who claimed she was “wasting her time” waiting for Geoffrey’s release. 

“It is obviously a product of somebody’s sick imagination. Geoffrey and I are the closest of people and the most important emotional support for each other. You’ll see us reunited soon,” she wrote alongside a compilation of video clips on January 25, 2023. “However while we are apart, I’m not locked in four walls. I have my own dreams to chase and my own goals to achieve. Watch me do it with all the grace I have!”
