Putting her foot down. 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After? star Angela Deem got candid with fiancé Michael Ilseanmi‘s family on the Sunday, August 9 episode. After revealing that she may not be able to physically give Michael, 31, a baby, the 53-year-old made it clear that doesn’t mean she’ll allow him to have a second wife to bear children, as is common in his culture.

In her confessional, Angela admitted things between her and her long-distance love had been “tense” ever since they got the results from her gynecologist. While they learned Angela’s uterus is in a good state to carry a baby, she still might not be able to carry the baby to term because of her overall physical health.

“Does he want to marry me or does he not? It’s time to s–t or get off the pot,” the Hazelhurst, Georgia native said in confessional.

Meanwhile, Michael is torn because he says having a daughter or son that he can raise and play with is a “joyous” thought.

“I really want to be with you even though you can’t have a baby, but I worry about my mom,” the Nigeria native tells his partner. Even though Michael’s mother already gave the couple her blessing to wed, it was under the condition that Angela could bear grandchildren. At the time, Angela believed she had “one egg” left in her ovaries and Michael’s mother approved their union. But now, Michael explained they would “need her blessing” to get married again when his mother understands that Angela is unable to conceive.

“She’s not going to be happy,” Michael told Angela. Angela says her future mother-in-law will “get over it.” Michael insisted that they cannot go against his Nigerian culture, but Angela disagreed.

In another scene, Angela and Michael met up with his loved ones to taste wedding cake options for their ceremony. Michael’s aunt and cousin did not seem to be happy that they were forgoing Nigerian tradition and opting for an American-style wedding. Michael’s aunt then brought up the topic of children, which is when Angela revealed the truth and said she would be considered an “at risk” pregnancy if she were to carry a child.

His family suggested they look into surrogacy to help grow their family, which Angela seemed open to. But she told them she would not be open to Michael having “side chicks” or a “second wife.”

“I feel a little bit embarrassed because I don’t think Angela knows the pressure from my family is not the only reason for me wanting to have a baby. I, personally, I want to have a baby,” Michael admitted in his confessional. “Right now, it scares me to think that I might not have a baby but also it scares me to think of not marrying Angela.”

The couple agreed they would need to speak with his mother in order to get her blessing. Fans will just have to wait to see if she’ll approve.
