The discovery of a body near Nancy Guthrie‘s home appears to have no correlation to her case.
The search continues for Savannah Guthrie‘s 84-year-old mother, who went missing from her home just north of Tucson, Arizona, on February 1.
Many believed the investigation could have been coming to a close soon when human remains were found in the desert area near West Ajo Way and South La Cholla Boulevard, which sits approximately 15 miles away from Nancy’s residence. However, Pima County Sheriff’s Department have now responded to the reports and officials clarified the remains appeared to have been there for “an extended period of time.”
On X, Sheriff Chris Nanos wrote, “At this time, there is no indication they are connected to the Nancy Guthrie investigation.”
Once additional information is available, he will inform the public.

Sheriff Nanos has been in charge of the case since Nancy first disappeared.
Nancy’s family learned she was missing on February 1, when she failed to attend her local mass. Shortly after that, the Pima County Sheriff’s office deemed her home a “crime scene” after discovering concerning evidence inside the property.
A few weeks after the incident, the FBI released footage from Nancy’s Google Nest camera showing a potential masked subject approaching her front door. Despite finding a visual of the potential subject, the authorities have yet to name a suspect or find Nancy.
Nevertheless, the case remains open with the Pima County Sheriff’s Department and FBI fielding over 40,000 to 50,000 potential leads and tips since then.
Savannah has also remained persistent in her search for her mother, with her family even offering a reward of up to $1 million for information on Nancy’s whereabouts.
