King Charles III has reacted to his younger brother, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, being arrested.
On Thursday, February 19, the former prince was arrested for “suspicion of misconduct in public office” at his home on the 77-year-old sovereign’s Sandringham Estate in Norfolk at about 8:00 am on his 66th birthday, according to the BBC. The police are searching the Norfolk property and the Royal Lodge, the outlet reported. The arrest is seemingly connected to the Jeffrey Epstein scandal, in which Andrew has repeatedly denied any wrongdoing.
The King — who did not get a heads-up about the arrest, per the BBC — released a statement on Thursday regarding the situation.

“I have learned with the deepest concern the news about Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and suspicion of misconduct in public office,” his statement read. “What now follows is the full, fair and proper process by which this issue is investigated in the appropriate manner and by the appropriate authorities. In this, as I have said before, they have our full and wholehearted support and co-operation.”
“Let me state clearly: the law must take its course,” Charles’ statement continued. “As this process continues, it would not be right for me to comment further on this matter. Meanwhile, my family and I will continue in our duty and service to you all.”

As In Touchpreviously reported, following the latest release of Epstein files, there was concern that Andrew — who was stripped of his royal honors and duties in 2025 by Charles — allegedly shared confidential information with the late sex offender during his time as trade envoy.
On Monday, February 9, Buckingham Palace shared a statement on behalf of Charles, which read in part: “If we are approached by Thames Valley Police, we stand ready to support them as you would expect,” per People.
