“Denise and Charlie have a very close relationship now,” explains an insider. “He knew he could count on her.”

Charlie— who’s faced his own addiction issues for decades— actually lost custody of the twins during his public breakdown in 2011.
“He never tried to get his boys back,” adds the source. “He knows he’s not the best hands-on father, but he does love his kids.”
Thankfully, Denise— who has Sam, 9 and Lola, 7 (with Charlie), as well as adopted daughter, Eloise, 22 months— was happy to take Brooke and Charlie’s sons.
“She treats the boys like her own,” says a pal of Charlie’s. “It just makes sense for them to be with their sisters and grow up in a stable environment. Denise is happy to provide that.”
