Taylor Swift is at it again. The 22-year-old “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together” singer is gearing up to release her upcoming album Red, which will hit stores on Oct. 22.
To prepare diehard fans for her fourth album release, Taylor will be performing snippets from one song a week off of Red on Good Morning America every Monday morning until the album’s release.
Yesterday’s track of choice? Taylor’s new melodramatic, post-breakup tune, “Begin Again.”
In true Taylor style, the lyrics paint a vivid picture of lost love and heartbreak that occurred eight months ago, before finding it again “on a Wednesday in a café”.
The real question is, who is the guy she’s singing about this time?
“He said he never met one girl who had as many James Taylor records as you but I do,” the lyrics say. “We tell stories and you don’t know why you’re coming off a little shy but I do.”
Given the star’s relationship track record, we can assume she’s either singing about her short-lived relationship with actor Jake Gyllenhaal, or perhaps her infamous connection with singer John Mayer — the subject of her previously melancholy tune "Dear John."
After she debuted the song on GMA yesterday, the single was released early on iTunes, where it immediately shot to number one, surpassing "Gangnam Style."
