Sharon Osbourne isn’t taking any chances when it comes to her health.
The television personality we all know and love recently made the decision to have a double mastectomy after learning that she’s genetically prone to developing breast cancer.
A decade ago, the now 60-year-old battled colon cancer, which deeply impacted her decision to undergo the preventative procedure this time around.
"I've had cancer before, and I didn't want to live under that cloud . . . The odds are not in my favor," she admits. "I decided to take everything off, and had a double mastectomy."
Though it’s been a year of trials and tribulations for the famous family following Sharon's cancer scare and Jack's Multiple Sclerosis diagnosis, the family was also fortunate enough to celebrate a recent wedding and a birth.

Shortly after Jack Osbourne’s daughter Pearl was born, the 26-year-old wed his longtime girlfriend Lisa Stelly in a beautiful Hawaiian ceremony in early October. Sharon admits that the birth of her first grandchild definitely impacted her decision to move forward with the double mastectomy.
“For me, it wasn’t a big decision, it was a no-brainer,” she says of removing her breasts. “I want to be around for a long time and be a grandmother to Pearl.”

So looking back, does Sharon have any regrets about her invasive surgery?
“I didn’t even think of my breasts in a nostalgic way, I just wanted to be able to live my life without that fear all the time,” she says of her decision. “It's not 'pity me', it's a decision I made that's got rid of this weight that I was carrying around."
