She’s a coach on the #1 singing competition show in the country, The Voice— but first and foremost, Shakira job is ‘mom’.
“Being a mother is deliciously overwhelming. It’s surreal,” the beauty recently told Today. “It’s a whole new experience to me, and I am just discovering it second by second.”
The “Hips Don’t Lie” songstress, 36, and her boyfriend Gerard Piqué, 26, welcomed their first child together, a baby son named Milan, in January.
And the Colombian star— who is new to this season of the hit show— may have fellow coaches Blake Shelton, Adam Levine and Usher to help her get acclimated, but her favorite on-set partner is her son, who’s already spent some time in the big, red swivel chair with his mom.

“Having him here, it’s great, it’s a new thing,” Shakira says of bringing Milan to the show. “It’s another part of me and my loved one.”
Nearly two weeks ago, the blonde beauty tweeted several photos of her son’s visit to The Voice— one of herself holding an intrigued-looking Milan (below), and another where the baby’s wincing, clearly unimpressed with a performance.
While Shakira juggles motherhood and her new gig without a problem, there is one thing that’s been difficult.
“[Losing baby weight] is the only thing that’s been a little stressful,” she said at NBCUniversal’s press day on Monday.
She added, “I knew I had to come back here to do The Voice two months after I had delivered a baby. I didn’t have my four months of maternity like every woman on earth has. I’m not trying to complain, but it’s been a process full of challenges.”
Shakira credits Zumba for keeping her in shape, despite the fact that she claims she’s “still a few pounds over.”
“Even during pregnancy, I kept doing [Zumba] until almost the end,” she said, adding, “now with The Voice, I don’t have time to exercise and when I have a day off, I just want to be with Milan.”
