Oscar-nominated actor Michael Clarke Duncan passed away on Monday morning, after spending two months in an LA-area hospital. The Green Mile star and former bodyguard suffered a serious heart attack on July 13 and never fully recovered. He was 54.
The actor was engaged to The Apprentice star Rev. Omarosa Manigault at the time of his death. The pair had been planning a January wedding.
"Omarosa is grateful for all of your prayers and asks for privacy at this time," said a statement released on her behalf. "Celebrations of his life, both private and public, will be announced at a later date."
Michael's breakout performance was in 1999's The Green Mile, in which he portrayed convicted murderer John Coffey. His co-star in the movie, Tom Hanks, said he was “terribly saddened at the loss of Big Mike," in a statement on Monday. "He was the treasure we all discovered on the set of The Green Mile. He was magic. He was a big love of a man and his passing leaves us stunned."
