Ever since her split from Tom Cruise, Katie Holmes has thrown herself into both motherhood and her work. Not only has she been caring for Suri pretty much full-time, she’s also shot a movie, accepted a high-profile Broadway gig and focused more attention than ever on her three-year-old clothing line, Holmes & Yang.
Now, the 33-year-old — who’s getting no alimony whatsoever from her ultra-rich ex-husband — has announced another gig that’s sure to bring in some extra cash: She’s signed on to be the face of Bobbi Brown Cosmetics. “Katie epitomizes the ‘Bobbi woman,’ ” the makeup artist and entrepreneur says. “I think of her as the modern day Ali McGraw, who I have always admired.”
“This is my first foray into beauty products,” Katie admits, but she’s not one to let inexperience stop her. She’ll balance her spokesmodel duties with a more hands-on role, helping to create a special capsule collection of color makeup — most likely blushes, lipsticks and eye shadows — that fit her easygoing aesthetic. “You want the hair and makeup to support the woman, just like you want the clothes to support the woman,” Katie says.
Certainly, in her case, she’s hoping that her fashion and beauty pursuits will literally support her post-Tom lifestyle.
