It’s hard to believe it, but Johnny Depp is turning 50 today. That’s a big milestone, so what will the Pirates of the Caribbean star do to commemorate it? Well, he might give himself a tattoo.
The ink-happy star has more than a dozen tattoos – including a Cherokee Indian chief on his right bicep in tribute to his Native American heritage, his mom’s name, Betty Sue, inscribed inside a heart on his left bicep, and his daughter Lily Rose’s name tattooed on the left side of his chest near his heart.
He also has three squares and the number 3 on his hands, and some marks on his left arm, which he scratched into his skin himself using a knife as a way to remind himself of some good and bad things that happened.
“My skin is a journal, every tattoo means something,” Johnny says. “Whether you do it yourself with a knife or you get it done by a professional, that doesn’t change its meaning.”
