Robert Pattinson threw a Great Gatsby-themed party at his LA home last night to celebrate his pal Arbitrage director Nick Jarecki's birthday, and guess who was there? 50 Shades of Grey author E.L. James! Does that mean Rob's going to star in the movie version of the best-selling erotic novel?
There's been speculation that he's a frontrunner, alongside Henry Cavill and Ian Somerhalder. But the 50 Shades author, who used to write Twilight fan fiction and admitted that her trilogy was inspired by the vampire hit, said last year that "it would be too strange" to think of Rob and his Twilight co-star Kristen Stewart playing her lead characters, Christian and Ana Steele… but maybe she's had a change of heart, at least as far as Rob is concerned.
Singer Todd Michael Schultz Tweeted about meeting the author at Rob's house last night. "That was a real freakin party.. everywhere you turn… someone super smart and talented and interesting to talk to," he Tweeted.
He also revealed that Kristin wasn't there, but Michelle Rodriguez was, along with singer Sia (who wrote Rihanna's "Diamonds") and songwriter Diane Warren.
"There were some fun hipster dance moments," he added, and said that Rob "is a really cool guy" and that the Twilight star told him that his dogs get "skunked on the regular."
E.L. Tweeted on June 19 that Sam Taylor-Johnson has agreed to direct the 50 Shades of Grey film, which means that things are moving ahead, so we're expecting a casting decision to be announced soon – so that makes her presence at Rob's party all the more interesting.
Tell us, do you want to see Rob as Christian Grey?
