Today he celebrates his 27th birthday, but only days ago, actor Frankie Muniz suffered a mini-stroke during which the Malcolm in the Middle star was unable to see and speak.
“I was in the hospital last Friday,” Frankie wrote to fans via his Twitter account on Dec. 4. “I suffered a 'Mini Stroke', which was not fun at all. Have to start taking care of my body! Getting old!”
After a morning workout on Nov. 30, Frankie hopped on his motorcycle to head over to his fiancée Elycia Marie Turnbow’s mother’s house, when his vision became impaired.
"I thought I had something on the visor of my helmet. I couldn't focus out of my right eye," he says. "By the time I got to her mom's house I pretty much had no vision in my right eye."
But that was only the beginning of his scary situation.
"I was really dizzy and in a lot of pain in my whole body and my head," Frankie admitted of his symptoms. "My hands were numb. I didn't really have good balance and I was almost dropping the bike. I felt like I was getting stabbed in the head – the worst headache you could ever think of. I couldn't see anything."
And while mini-strokes are uncommon at such a young age, they can happen to anybody. Frankie insists he’s “never had a sip of alcohol” or taken any drugs, which surely helps his chances of remaining healthy in the future.
For now, Frankie focuses on enjoying a low-key birthday. "Enjoying a nice RELAXING birthday!" he wrote on twitter. "Thank you everyone for all the kind messages you are sending me! Means a lot to me!"
Happy Birthday to you, Frankie… and feel better!
