The Fairmont Pacific Rim hotel in Vancouver, British Columbia, where the dead body of Glee star Cory Monteith was discovered this weekend, has turned into an impromptu memorial for the 31-year-old Canadian-born actor. Mourners left flowers, photographs, handwritten notes, and even drawings of Monteith and his girlfriend Lea Michele outside of the hotel.
One young woman wrote in a letter that she had been inspired to study abroad in Vancouver because of Monteith. She went on to say that the actor "inspired me to work hard and push through the hard times."
Another fan left a framed photo of Cory and Lea attending a hockey game with the words "Rest in paradise" written beside Cory's face and "Stay strong Lea" on the other side. One artistically-inclined mourner left a pencil-drawn likeness of Lea and Cory together. It is now framed on the sidewalk, surrounded by candles and flowers.
Friends and fans of Cory's have taken to the internet to mourn Cory. Costar Matthew Morrison, whose character Will was a mentor and father figure to Cory's character Finn, dedicated a song to Cory at a recent performance. Entertainment industry friends like Taylor Swift, Selena Gomez, and Damian McGinty took to Twitter to express shock and grief at Cory's unexpected passing.
The site at the Fairmont Pacific Rim has grown since Cory's sudden death was announced on Sunday. The hotel has reportedly closed off the entire 21st floor.
A message posted at the memorial announced that a candlelight vigil in Cory's honor will be held at the site at 8:00 PM this Friday, July 19.
