Chaz Bono started his weight-loss journey in November after appearing on CBS’ medical talk show The Doctors. Now, eight months later and 71 pounds lighter, Dr. Eva Cwynar, Chaz’s endocrinologist and metabolic expert, dishes on the transgender activist’s weight loss, telling In Touch, “[Chaz] looks and feels fabulous!”
With a starting weight of 253, Cher’s former daughter is now at a much healthier 182 pounds. “He’s smiling all the time — he’s energetic, happy and motivated,” Dr. Cwynar tells the new issue of In Touch, on stands now. “This has been life-changing for him!”
So how did the 5-foot-5 Dancing With the Stars contestant do it? “I was looking to balance the hormones and what would be easy for him [to maintain]. That’s why I suggested Qsymia. It’s a drug, newly approved by the FDA for the chronic maintenance of obesity,” Dr. Cwynar explains. “It modifies his eating behavior in conjunction with exercise,” which she tells In Touch was affected by his sex-transition surgery.
Dr. Cwynar happily adds, “He’s off his cholesterol meds and his hypertension meds, and his sugar is stabilized.” Chaz concurs, adding: “I have a lot more confidence, and I really like what I see in the mirror!”
