Will Ferrell and Chad Smith together—it’s finally going to happen!
On Thursday night’s episode of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Jimmy announced that this Thursday, May 22, Will and the Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer will appear on the show together in an ultimate drum battle.
The two will not only “settle who's the better drummer once and for all,” they will also appear together on TV for the first time.

The Anchorman 2 actor first thought of a drum battle last year when he said, “A lot of people think that it’s me playing for the Red Hot Chili Peppers. But that would be an insult to Chad Smith. The truth of the matter is there is no Will Ferrell. Only Chad Smith.”
In an Instagram video posted by Funny or Die in February, Ferrell said, “Hello, I just want everyone to know I had a great time on Reddit and it was great to finally clear up the fact that I am actually Chad Smith.”
After seeing the video, Smith responded, “Stop impersonating me. In fact, I need you – drum battle. Me and you. I’ve seen your skills. You don’t got ‘em. Let’s go. Golden cowbell. Winner, boom!”
"I'm all for it. But unless Will's been practicing or is secretly a crazy, wild drummer, I think it'll be evident right off the bat who the real Chad Smith is,” the 52-year-old musician tells Rolling Stone. "I'm ready to take him down."
The battle may be all fun and games, but there’s a real reason behind the two doing this – besides winning the giant golden cowbell prize. Smith and Ferrell are doing it as part of their efforts to raise money for Cancer for College and Little Kids Rock, in which they have already raised more than $300,000 before the battle was even announced.

"If I win, he has to wash my car for a month and give me pedicures," Chad joked about the other prize involved. "If I lose, I have to be his stand-in for his next film."
Smith admitted to Rolling Stone in the past that he and the 46-year-old actor only met briefly back in 2000 at a showing of The Ladies Man. But, it was very briefly since all Ferrell said was, “You’re very handsome,” before walking away.
Hopefully, he has more to say to the drummer when they battle it out this week!
