This is heartbreaking.

A family that had been featured on ABC’s reality show Wife Swap back in 2008 is at the forefront of a double murder investigation after one of the kids allegedly shot and killed his mother and brother before turning the gun on himself.

According to NBC’s 5 On Your Side, deputies responded to a 911 call in Beach City, Ohio.

The victims were identified as James Stockdale, 21, and his mother, Kathryn Stockdale, 54.

The Stockdale brothers were part of a group called The Stockdale Family Band. According to the band’s website, Jacob — the alleged suspect — won Ohio’s Fiddle Grand Championship, and James was described as “the one with the sparkle in his eye that can create excitement when he wants to on stage or off.”

The episode of Wife Swap introduced the family as “devoutly religious and have banned TV and video games believing it’s their moral responsibility to censor all that their kids watch and listen to.”

Timothy Stockdale, Jacob’s father, said in a statement that “Kathy has been my beloved wife of 32 years and a wonderful mother to our four sons. She loved nothing more than being a mother and grandmother.” He also said he “appreciates the prayers and support we are receiving from our friends and the community.”

It is still unclear what happened leading up to the murders, but the incident has shaken the small town. “This is a tragedy for the family. It is a tragedy for the community,” said Stark County Sheriff George T. Maier.

Jacob, 25, was taken to a hospital via helicopter and is reportedly in critical condition.
