Josh McKee Leaving ‘Teen Mom’ Star Mackenzie McKee Was “The Best” for Their Marriage
The relationship between former high school sweethearts Josh McKee and Mackenzie McKee has had more ups and downs than the bucking broncos Josh likes to ride! The 24-year-old rodeo star has moved back in with his Teen Mom wife, so for now, their "happily ever after" is back on track. But for a while there, the outlook was grim. Here's the scoop on Josh's life so far…
He's got three kids with Mackenzie McKee
These reality stars have brought three kids in the world. Mackenzie gave birth to son Gannon on Sept. 12, 2011, daughter Jaxie Taylor on Feb. 7, 2014, and son Broncs Weston on Aug. 14, 2016.
And in the middle of all that action, Josh and Mackenzie got married, swapping vows in a country-themed wedding on Aug. 17, 2013. "Josh was whispering in my ear how much he loved me," Mackenzie later told Us Weekly. "It was the best moment. It was like, 'We're here, we did it.'"
He rides bareback
Don't worry, this isn't NSFW — we're talking about his rodeo career! In this event, intrepid souls ride bucking broncos while holding on with just one hand. (And now you know where Broncs gets his name.)
These riders succeed if they hang on (in a certain posture) for eight seconds… and as you might imagine, it's a dangerous sport. In fact, Josh himself has seen his fair share of injuries.
"Proud to say I'm married to one tough cowboy," Mackenzie told Instagram fans in 2014. "After getting hung up in his [rigging] for a good minute and being kicked in the face and a broken nose later, he came out of the arena with a smile. I love him so much." Yeehaw?
He has had serious drama with his baby mama
At some point prior to January 2017, Josh found out Mackenzie had been texting a married man after that man's ex-wife clued him in. He then put her on blast on social media, saying he'd been getting "red flags" and Mackenzie wasn't the "goddamn princess" she claimed to be.
Mackenzie, insisting there was "no flirting or affair," told RadarOnline.com she and Josh had been estranged ever since she developed postpartum depression after giving birth to Broncs.
"That pushed Josh away," she said. "There was no support. He hated who I became. During that time, he had left, and that was when I was texting that guy… I never wanted to be with that guy or talked about being with him. He's in a serious relationship, and that is not who I am."
He and Mackenzie are back together
Josh moved out in the wake of that cheating scandal, but this November, Mackenzie told OK! they were living together again. She's focused on her fitness program, he's focused on his drywalling and cattle businesses, and their relationship is apparently stronger than ever.
"I love Josh now more than I ever have," the Teen Mom 3 alum raved. "Him leaving and us taking that time was the best. We have our moments here and there, but we are in our early 20s with a lot to figure out."
