A water leak caused major red carpet damage at the Golden Globes tonight.

The red carpet became the wet carpet when a burst pipe caused a major water leak just hours before the Golden Globes were slated to begin tonight. Reportedly, the problem started when a lighting rig-up set off the sprinkler system at the venue, the Beverly Hilton Hotel in LA.

Luckily, no celebs were walking down the carpet when the leak began, and a maintenance crew immediately got to work cleaning up the water and fixing the leak.

"We can confirm that there was a malfunction with a sprinkler near the red carpet," a rep for Dick Clark Productions, who is producing the awards show, said in a statement.

"The situation was quickly resolved. Despite the incident the red carpet will open at its regularly scheduled time. We heard some of the biggest names in entertainment were coming to The Golden Globe Awards tonight and we wanted to give the carpet one last wash before it opened."

The ceremony begins at 8:00 PM EST tonight. The Golden Globes are hosted by Amy Poehler and Tina Fey.
