A 23-year-old woman has died after falling 15 feet from a bridge while trying to capture the perfect selfie.
Medical student Sylwia Rajchel — from Lublin, Poland — was vacationing in Spain and trying to take a self shot on Seville’s Puente de Triana bridge when she slipped and fell to her death.
Medical professionals attempted to revive the young woman, who ultimately succumbed to extensive head injuries shortly thereafter.
“Going to Spain was a dream come true for my daughter,” her mother, Bernadeta, told the media. “She had taught herself the language and was hoping to work there in the future after finishing her studies.
“She was a beautiful, smiling girl who had her whole life ahead of her.”
In light of the recent tragedy, city officials are hoping to improve the safety of the tourist attraction.
“This was a tragic accident and we are looking to make that stretch of boulevard along the river safer,” a city spokesperson said.
