The Voice's Shakira
Talks Motherhood: "I’m
Still Trying to Figure
She may have a handful of Grammys and a judging gig on the hit show The Voice, but when it comes to motherhood, Shakira’s just rolling with the punches.
“I’m still trying to figure it out,” the Colombian songstress, 36, tells the July issue of Elle about parenting. “And I have a feeling I will try to do the same for the rest of my life.”
But Shakira, who is still "figuring out" how to be a mom to 4-month-old son Milan, claims the learning comes with the territory.

“Some people put it like it’s very idyllic, some people put it like it’s a torturing experience, but it’s not quite one thing or the other,” she says. “It’s like life – it comes with everything.”
Thankfully, Shakira has her boyfriend, soccer star Girard Piqué to help her with the ins and outs of raising a child— but when it comes to their careers, they’re very much their own people.
“He has his own world and that’s actually one of the healthiest things about the relationship,” she admits. “I know that he’s the one person who is with me not because of any interest other than the love that unites us. There’s nothing I can offer him beyond my womanhood – does that word exist in English?”

As for her music, the star says she doesn’t know what the future holds.
“I have no idea of where I want to go musically, but I’m fine that way,” she says. “I don’t need to remain faithful to any concept, you know?”
One thing’s for sure: she’s enjoying the time she has left on this season of The Voice.
She says of her goofy co-judges Usher, Blake Shelton and Adam Levine: “In general, I think I’ve treated the boys with mercy.”
