Following this week’s 12-12-12 Concert for Hurricane Sandy victims, one of Hollywood’s hottest comediennes is following suit by hosting a Sandy fundraiser of her own—the one and only Joy Behar.
“I know that so many of my fellow New Yorkers have been deeply affected by this terrible storm,” Joy says of the storm that destroyed the tri-state area. “I also believe that laughter is essential, now more than ever, as we rebuild after this disaster.”
On Dec.10, The View co-host was the emcee during a night of comic relief— and destruction relief— at her very own event titled “Comics with Benefits,” which will air tonight, Dec. 14., on Current TV, with subsequent airings throughout the holiday season.
The two hour show will include an all-star lineup of comedic and celebrity appearances from Joy and fellow stars like Larry David, Wendy Williams, Sherri Shepherd, Dee Snider, and many other notable celebs. Actress/ singer Liza Minnelli even opens up the show with a special video message for the audience.
The headliner's special guests discuss everything from their various first jobs (one guest admits he sold bras!) to embarrassing childhood memories and pop culture. And with this many funny men and women in one room, bellies are sure to be hurting at the end of the program.
Proceeds from Joy's laugh fest will benefit two local charities providing Hurricane Sandy relief to those affected: UJA-Federation of New York and Rebuilding Together.
Tune in to Joy Behar’s “Comics with Benefits” on Current TV on Friday, Dec. 14, at 9E/6P. To find out how you can donate to our Sandy relief effort, visit http://www.current.com/comics.
