Jen Arnold, neonatologist and star of TLC’s The Little Couple, revealed heartbreaking news today: She is battling a rare form of cancer.

Since 2009, The Little Couple has chronicled Jen and her husband, Bill Klein, as they got married, moved to Texas for her medical residency, and adopted 2 children—Will, 3, from China and Zoey, 2, from India.

For years, the cameras have captured almost every moment of Jen’s life… and her battle with cancer will be no exception; a spokesperson for TLC explained to ABC News that Jen—as a teacher and a doctor—saw a learning opportunity through her own struggle.

Luckily, Jen remains optimistic as she faces her battle.

“I am very fortunate as the prognosis is good,” she said in a statement. “While there is never a good time to get news like this, getting it just as we are building our new family is tough in many ways… But being surrounded by the love of my husband and our two beautiful children is actually in many ways giving me the strength to fight it even stronger.”

Specific details about what form of cancer have not been released.

Jen, Bill, Will and Zoey are in our thoughts at this time.
