Growin’ up Duggar!
With a household full of kids, Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar set some ground rules when it comes to romantic relationships— and now those guidelines have been revealed.
In a new interview, two of the couple’s nine daughters — Jessa, who’s currently engaged, and Jill, married with a little one on the way — explain what it's like growing up in one of reality TV's most famous and religious families.

As fans already know, the children are not allowed to hold hands with their partners (handpicked by Jim Bob) until they’re engaged, nor are they allowed to kiss or hug until after they said “I do” at the altar. The father encourages his older children to side hug instead.

“In today’s day and time, it’s a little bit strange to be in our early twenties and have not had sex,” Jessa admitted in the interview. “But it’s how our parents did it.”
They’re not even allowed to have private text message conversations. The patriarch goes through each and every text, and if there’s something he doesn’t like, he’ll respond.
That happened to Ben Seewald, Jessa’s now fiancé. When he had texted the 21-year-old with the words “Give me a ring,” Jim Bob responded, “No rings yet,” with a smiley face emoticon.
As for the girls’ appearances, they’re all expected to keep their shoulders, cleavage and thighs completely covered. Make-up, on the other hand, is just fine, as it “honors the lord” and enhances the features God gave them. They’re also allowed to style their hair, which they do daily because The Bible calls a woman’s tresses her “glory.”
And there you have it!
