That was the question on everyone’s mind after last week’s episode of The Bachelor, during which Juan Pablo Galavis showed some favoritism—and regret—after taking a tip in the ocean with one of the contestants, Clare.
In Touch Weekly caught up with Clare, who filled us in on whether or not their little splash was a skinny dip after all!

“It was a mutual, innocent, having fun in the ocean,” she told In Touch. “I was doing something that was on my bucket list. And I don’t regret it—to this second I don’t regret it… I still don’t regret it because you’re swimming in the ocean, living in the moment, and falling in love.”
Their little dip in the ocean has made quite a splash—especially after JP said that he “regretted” the decision because he didn’t want his daughter to get the wrong impression.

“I will stand by this again, swimming in the ocean is not shameful,” she explained. “He didn’t want his daughter seeing that. But as you saw earlier in the evening, he took me back to his suite to go swimming in the pool. It anything that—to me—is a little bit more questionable.”
Clare maintained that there was nothing inappropriate about their interaction—she just had never been in the ocean and was trying to cross an item off her bucket list. More importantly, she said there was nothing unfair about her personal time with Juan either, even though the other women seemed to think it was unfair.
What seemed like special attention even prompted some of the women to refer to the group date as “Clare’s one-on-one date,” and the Bachelor contestant said this was especially hurtful.
“I think it’s definitely unfortunate watching it back because I had nothing but love for these girls,” she gushed. “I guess you guys can’t see this but we all borrowed each other’s clothes and helped each other with doing each other’s hair and supported each other. And I think we were all in this really vulnerable situation together… And I think that at the end of the day, we all were there to fall in love—hopefully.”
Clare is among the six girls still vying for Juan Pablo’s heart. For more, be sure to tune into The Bachelor on Monday nights at 8 PM on ABC!
