Between fans, the court system and the media, we’re sure a day doesn’t go by that Joe and Teresa Guidice aren’t reminded of their on-going legal situation. But we have a feeling none of that hit as hard as when their oldest daughter, Gia, 13, confronts them about their battle.
“I obviously know what’s going on,” the tween says, fighting back tears.
In March, the Real Housewives of New Jersey star and her husband plead guilty to several counts of fraud in federal court. If found guilty, Teresa could face a maximum jail time of 27 months, while Joe faces up to 46 months behind bars.
Seeing her mother locked up would be understandably difficult for any child—especially a mother/child pair as close as Gia and her mom.
On Mother’s Day, she tweeted a picture of her of the two of them together and wrote, “Happy Mother’s Day mommy! I don’t know what I would do without you in my life.”

And as a potential separation inches closer and closer, the 41-year-old remains focused on what’s best for her four daughters.
“Look—every family has problems. Nobody’s perfect,” Teresa told In Touch in November. “I have to be strong for my kids.”
As her parents continue to do what’s in the best interest of Gia and her sisters, she plans on returning the favor in the future.
When Joe asks his daughter what she wants to study when she gets older, she quickly and enthusiastically tells him:
“A criminal lawyer.”
