Teen Mom OG fans were shocked when Amber Portwood’s ex Gary Shirley accused her fiancé, Matt Baier, of fathering seven kids.
In this week’s issue of In Touch — on newsstands now — Matt sets the record straight, exclusively telling the magazine: “I have five children [ranging in age from 13 to 25], and all of them have come from long-term relationships.”

“There are not seven child support cases against me — that is completely not true. I paid child support for all my kids,” Matt, 44, who is also a grandfather of three, explains. “I have an arrangement where I pay for education and a few other things. [However,] I don’t have to pay for two of my girls because they have been emancipated.”

Reports claim that Amber, 25, was caught off-guard by Matt’s situation, but he says she knew about every one of his children. “Amber has met them and everyone gets along,” the former radio host explains, adding that Amber’s daughter, Leah, has also met his “younger kids.”

As for Gary? “When he brought up the accusations, I was very hurt,” says Matt. “But since then, Gary’s been very apologetic. He looked me in the eyes and said, ‘I’m sorry.’”
Matt hopes fans will do the same. “It’s sad that people are coming up with these crazy stories,” he says. “Amber and I have a healthy relationship. We have no secrets from each other.”
