Teen Mom 2 is never lacking on drama—but even the smallest details get blown out of proportion sometimes.
Kailyn Lowry learned this firsthand after a preview aired for the reality show’s upcoming season finale this Wednesday, in which she’s seen arguing about her son Isaac’s haircut with her ex, Jo Riviera.
In the clip, Jo reads a text he received from Kailyn that says, “Little white boys don’t get their hair cut like that.”
Of course, this is extra sensitive because Isaac has a mixed background—Kail is Caucasian, but Jo is Puerto Rican.
The texts go on to say “He’s too young for that. He’s half white. I don’t like his hair cut like that. Please don’t do it.”
After being the accusations rolled in, the Teen Mom 2 star quickly defended herself on Twitter—and even put blame on MTV for taking creative liberties when editing!
“Bahahahahahaha ok, I’m not racist,” she tweeted. “Gotta make good TV somehow!”

Kailyn’s husband, Javi Marroquin, also came to her defense.
“My bae is not racist,” he tweeted. “Her statement came out wrong and was [taken] out of context. Move on.”
