Barbara Evans Reveals Jenelle’s Brother Colin Is Living With Her and Jace

On last night’s brand new episode of Teen Mom 2, fans were introduced to Jenelle Evans‘ brother, Colin, and Barbara revealed that he moved in with her and Jace. “I think it’s been good since you’re staying here with us, that he [Jace] has another male figure who’s not with all those anger issues and hitting and cursing,” Babs said. “Just all that violence over at that house. It’s very sickening. I don’t know what’s going on with your sister. I don’t even know her anymore.”

On a recent episode of the show, fans took to Twitter to slam David Eason for yelling at his kids on television. “David from Teen Mom 2 acts sooo crazy. Lol dudes got issues,” someone tweeted. Another commented, “If David kills Jenelle and all of the kids, MTV should be held accountable. They should’ve intervened a long time ago. Those kids safety should be priority one!!!”

Yet this isn’t the first time we’ve heard of Jenelle’s brother. In her memoir, Read Between the Lines: From the Diary of a Teenage Mom, the always blunt reality star opened up about her troubled past, including the difficulties growing up with a brother who was “developmentally challenged.”

In 2000, her then nine-year-old sibling set his toy car on fire and tossed it on the bed, accidentally sending their family home up in flames. “It took us a few moments of confusion to figure out what in the hell he was going on about,” the mother-of-three wrote, adding that he frantically ran down the stairs to interrupt a movie night and explain what happened. The family had to evacuate, and Barbara had reached her “breaking point.” She added, “This … was too much for all of us.”

As a result of that incident, Colin was sent to a group home for nearly two years. Looking back, however, Jenelle agreed that she would have done the same thing. “I don’t blame my mother for sending him away like that,” she wrote. “It is a hard decision, yet I would’ve done the same.”

In an interview with People, Barbara, 64, said that the decision to place him in a home wasn’t easy but it had to be done. “I had to do what I had to do because he could not live in that house, he was dangerous,” she said. “He burnt my house down when he was 10. We’d only been living in the residence for six months. Six months and he burnt the house down.” Luckily, it appears their relationship has drastically improved since then.

Teen Mom 2 airs Mondays at 9 p.m. EST on MTV.
