A college student who was arrested for allegedly raping one of his classmates has claimed he did so because the pair were reenacting a scene from the Fifty Shades of Grey movie.
Mohammad Hossain, 19, is accused of violently attacking a female student before allegedly sexually assaulting her in his dorm at the University of Illinois.
According to the ‘Chicago Tribune,’ a Cook County judge questioned his lawyer, Sandra Bennewitz, “How can someone involved in all that let a movie persuade him to do something like this?”
She responded, “He would say that it was consensual.”

Assistant State's Attorney Sarah Karr said the pair were reportedly intimate before the alleged violence took place on Saturday around 5:30 p.m.
Once inside his dorm, Hossain allegedly asked the young woman to remove all her clothes except for her bra and underwear. After she did, he allegedly shoved a necktie into her mouth and tied her to a bed.
Hossain then allegedly began hitting the woman, who was blindfolded, repeatedly with a belt. She screamed for him to stop, but he continued to hit her with the belt and his fists. Karr then said he raped her while she pleaded with him to stop.

When his roommate came home, Hossain reportedly refused to open the door and held it shut to keep the other man out.
Once the woman left, she told someone what happened and then called police.
Hossain’s bail has been set at $500,000.
