On Monday, Taylor Swift won big in her countersuit against David Mueller — a former Colorado radio DJ she accused of assault and battery after he allegedly groped her at a meet and greet back in 2013. The jury ruled in favor of the “Shake It Off” singer — awarding her with a symbolic $1 in damages — and now fans are wondering more about the man she sued. He was fired from his $150,000-a-year job at KYGO

Following the allegations, the 98.5 KYGO radio personality — who went by the on-air nickname, Jackson — previously hosted a segment called Ryno and Jackson and worked at numerous stations over his 20 years in broadcasting including San Diego, Minneapolis, and Kansas City.

He began his legal battle in September 2015 — two years after he was fired

The photo — which Tay initially wanted to keep private — was snapped on June 2, 2013, when David was invited to a meet and greet with the singer backstage at her Pepsi Center show on the RED tour. He and his girlfriend at the time, Shannon Melcher, posed with the star, which is when he allegedly lifted up her dress and grabbed her bare bum. According to court documents, she said, “It was not an accident. It was completely intentional, and I have never been so sure of anything in my life.”

He was sanctioned by the court for destroying evidence

According to The Denver Post, the 55-year-old recorded a conversation he had with his boss at KYGO after the alleged groping took place. However, he claimed he spilled coffee on his laptop’s keyboard and that his hard drive suddenly stopped working. U.S. District Judge William Martinez ruled that Mueller was “unjustifiably careless in his handling of evidence that he had a clear duty to preserve.”

He sought $3 million in damages, but Taylor only wanted $1

Taylor filed her countersuit in October 2015 and claimed at the time that she “knows exactly who committed the assault.” After she came out victorious following the jury’s decision, she said, “I acknowledge the privilege that I benefit from in life, in society and in my ability to shoulder the enormous cost of defending myself in a trial like this. My hope is to help those whose voices should also be heard. Therefore, I will be making donations in the near future to multiple organizations that help sexual assault victims defend themselves.”

He claims he could “pass a polygraph”

As of this morning, David is still denying he ever committed the crime. On Good Morning America, he said, “What I’m saying is I didn’t do what they said. I never grabbed her. I never had my hand under my skirt and I can pass a polygraph.”
