Richard Hatch may have won Survivor — but lately for the reality star, life has been a losing game. After an interview with the Today show’s Matt Lauer on August 18, Richard, who starred on the longtime competition show’s first season in 2000, was taken into police custody. His sister Kristin claims the reason for his sudden arrest was due to his granting of two TV interviews without permission from the Federal Bureau of Prisons. However, Richard’s lawyer, Cynthia Ribas, also said on Today that she had secured clearance for the interviews and still had not been given a reason for the arrest. Richard had been living under house arrest in Kristin’s Newport, R.I., home after a nearly three-year prison sentence for tax evasion.
