As news of Amy Winehouse's death broke, celebrities signed on to Twitter to express shock, condolences, and devastation.

"I can't even breathe right now I'm crying so hard," close friend Kelly Osbourne tweeted. "I love you forever Amy and I will never forget the real you."

Dita Von Teese also weighed in to remember the bright young woman she knew before drugs entered Amy's life. "devastated. I spent extraordinary times with Amy," she recalled. "She sang for me once for hours and it was the most beautiful and touching thing. A huge loss."

Indeed, many others who may not have known Amy as well were still aghast at the news of an icon gone too soon. "Dear God have mercy!!!" Rihanna tweeted. "I am sick about this right now!"

No stranger to rehab herself, Demi Lovato weighed in, "The world just lost a very talented woman to a very powerful disease…addiction."

But it was Nicki Minaj who perhaps best summed up the general feeling of shock and disbelief when she Tweeted, "please tell me Amy Winehouse didn't die. Is this some sick joke??"
