Production of the hit Fox show 24 has been halted for a couple of days while star Kiefer Sutherland has surgery. Producers say the delay will be short, and the broadcast schedule of the show won’t be affected. The surgery, to deal with a ruptured cyst near the star’s kidneys, is not said to be serious, and he should be back at work within a few days. News of the temporary setback comes at the same time as reports that a 24 movie is in the works. Fox executives and Kiefer are said to have approved a working script for the as-yet-unscheduled feature. "While Kiefer Sutherland is frustrated to miss even one day of work, he and Fox decided together that it would be best to complete this minor elective procedure now,” said a rep for the actor.
