Solange Knowles Record
Sales Up By 233% After
Brawl With Jay Z
Well that's one way to sell records!
Singer Solange Knowles saw a boost in her music sales in the U.S. following the now-infamous elevator fight with brother-in-law Jay Z in New York after the Met Gala.
Surveillance footage emerged earlier this month showing Beyonce's sister lash out at the rapper as they left a party at The Standard Hotel, kicking him and punching him.
But the controversy increased her record sales by 233 per cent! According to Nielsen SoundScan data for the week ending 18 May, the Losing You singer's digital sales were at 2,000 downloads, up from 600 the previous week.
After the incident was made public, rumors were rife as to what exactly the fight was over, with theories ranging from the fact Jay Z wanted to go to Rihanna's party, and that Solange's friends were using his name to gatecrash the event at The Standard Hotel.
Shortly after the incident, the trio released a statement insisting they have "worked through" the drama.
"We love each other and above all we are family. We've put this behind us and hope everyone else will do the same," it said.
