Gage Berger is a first grader in Utah who recently underwent plastic surgery after being mercilessly bullied by classmates for his “elf ears.”
His parents — Tim and Kallie — told Inside Edition that they decided to take action because they feared if their child endured the torment for any longer, it could potentially cause permanent emotional damage.

The doctor who performed the surgery, Dr. Stephen Mobley, explained why the procedure — known as “ear pinning” — can be beneficially, saying, “They often get some not-so-nice name stuck to them, like ‘bat ears’ or ‘elf ears,’ and that sticks with them through middle school and high school.”

According to Inside Edition, the operation took about two hours and after two days, Gage was able to remove the bandages and reveal his transformation.
