If Amy Winehouse’s father has his way, there’s only one star who should be considered for the role of his late daughter in an upcoming movie about her life— Lady Gaga.
“There will be a biopic,” Mitch Winehouse recently admitted. “Lady Gaga is welcome to audition of the part of Amy— she would be great.”
When the “Rehab” star passed away in July of 2011, Gaga was rather vocal about her admiration for the woman she claims she “loved.”
"It really affected me quite deeply," Gaga admitted of Amy’s death. "Isn’t it strange to say ‘She is,’ and now I have to say ‘She was?’ I’m just really glad that we got to admire her and tell her how much we loved her when she was alive. I hope she knows now in Heaven, where she is, how much we all loved her."
And Amy’s father admires Gaga just as much.
“She is actually a very sweet girl,” he says of the “Born This Way” singer, later referencing her life in and out of the spotlight. “Her mum tells me that when she gets home, there’s no lobsters on her head— she just wears tracksuits and slippers and slobs out on the couch.”
While we’re not sure if Lady Gaga will take on the role, we know for a fact she’s a huge fan of the former singer and we would love to see her depiction of Amy.
"She was my only hope when I was up and coming,” Mother Monster said of Amy. “Nobody knew who I was and I had no fans, no record label and everybody, when they met me, said I wasn’t pretty enough or that my voice was too low or strange. They had nowhere to put me. And then I saw [Amy] in Rolling Stone and I saw her live. I just remember thinking ‘Well, they found somewhere to put Amy…’"
