She’s back—and we could not be happier!
Less than two weeks after she was rushed to the ER and suffered a miscarriage, The Bachelor alum Shayne Lamas has been released from the hospital and is reaching out to those who supported her during that difficult time.
“Thank you for all your thoughts and prayers,” she said in a statement. “I’ve cried reading the expression of generosity and warmth from everyone. I’m out of the ICU at the Mission Viejo Hospital. I cannot thank the medical staff here enough for not giving up on me.”
On Feb. 9, the 28-year-old reality star was taken to the hospital for medical assistance after collapsing in her Orange County home. At the time, she was 20 weeks pregnant with her second child—a son, who she and husband Nik Richie went on to name Rex Jagger.
Doctors discovered that Shayne was bleeding near her uterus, but were unable to determine a cause. While Shayne’s life was spared during this life-threatening journey—the baby, R.J., was tragically lost.
Luckily, she had the support of her family, including Nik, her 2-year-old daughter, Press, and her father, soap opera actor Lorenzo Lamas.
“Thank you to my father and his wife, my mother, my sisters, my grandmother and New York family, my husband’s family and to my husband for never leaving my side,” she continued in the statement. “Nik, your strength can never be measured. I love you. To everyone out there, please donate blood. You can save a life like mine. In loving memory of my son, Rex Jagger Lamas-Richie.”
Yesterday, Feb. 19, Nik published a touching letter to honor his late son.
“In family, we sacrifice for each other. You gave us your life for us. You showed me how to love,” he wrote. “I need you to know that I held you, spoke to you, kissed you and that you’ll be remembered. You are perfect. You will always be my son. I’m proud of you, always. I love you, Rex Jagger Lamas-Richie.”
