It’s confirmed! Foul-mouthed Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane will go from pushing the envelope to presenting them as the official host of the 2013 Oscars.

The 85th Annual Academy Awards ceremony will take place on February 24 in LA, where the first-time Oscar host is sure to add some off-color flavor to the event.

Calling his upcoming gig an “overwhelming privilege,” the 38-year-old entertainer is known for his animated television shows Family Guy and American Dad, most recently making his directorial debut with the hit flick Ted.

The Academy Awards producers, Craig Zadan and Neil Meron, are apparently “thrilled” with their host choice, adding that Seth’s “performing skills blend perfectly with our ideas for making the show entertaining and fresh."

Following in the footsteps of 2012 host Billy Crystal, Seth shared his excitement about the role.

“My thoughts upon hearing the news were, one, I will do my utmost to live up to the high standards set forth by my predecessors; and two, I hope they don’t find out I hosted the Charlie Sheen Roast.”
